Genomics for precision medicine
How genomics supports precision medicine, and variation in the human genome: SNPs and indels.

Data formats, preprocessing and QC
FASTQ, BAM and VCF formats, read preprocessing and quality control. Tools: FastQC, Trimmomatic.

Read alignment and mapping
Align reads to a reference genome. Tools: BWA, Bowtie2.

Variant calling pipelines
Call variants with industry-standard tools. Tools: GATK, SAMtools, FreeBayes.
05
Annotation and variant effects
Annotate variants and predict missense, nonsense, synonymous and regulatory effects. Tools: ANNOVAR, VEP, SnpEff.
06
Visualization and clinical interpretation
Visualize SNPs and interpret variants for targeted therapies. Tool: IGV.

Do I need prior experience?
A basic understanding of bioinformatics and genomics is expected.
What will I need on my computer?
A computer running Windows 10/11, macOS or Linux, with a reliable internet connection. Google Meet runs in your web browser.
What if I miss a live session?
Every session is recorded, and you get access to the recordings.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. The certificate is awarded on completing the course assignment.
