What we do
Four ways we advance the life sciences
Training
Live, hands-on courses and internships
Instructor-led online cohorts in genomics, programming, drug discovery and AI for biology — for students, researchers and professionals.
Data analysis
Research-grade bioinformatics services
From raw sequencing reads and protein structures to reproducible, publication-ready results for labs and biotech teams.
Science communication
Bioinformatics news & insights
Accessible coverage of new research, tools and methods, plus curated resources for the bioinformatics community.
Research & development
Building our own research program
Applying the same rigor to original work in computational biology, and partnering with labs and industry on research questions.
Vision
To be a catalyst for life-science innovation — advancing research, education and industry through computational biology, for the benefit of society and the environment.
Mission
To build research capability in bioinformatics and computational biology by training scientists, delivering rigorous data analysis, communicating new science and pursuing original research — with quality at the core of everything we do.
Our goals
What we work towards
01
Build skilled scientists
Create trained bioscientists with sound, hands-on experience in bioinformatics.
02
Share knowledge widely
Increase awareness of bioinformatics through training, education, publication and timely research news.
03
Be a resource center
Serve as a trusted source of bioscience information, tools and training for the community.
04
Connect research and industry
Help transfer new research results to companies and bring entrepreneurs and researchers together.
05
Bring researchers together
Facilitate the sharing of knowledge through workshops, conferences, seminars and publications.
06
Work across disciplines
Stimulate interaction among the bioinformatics disciplines for a broader perspective on shared problems.

From the founder
A note from our founder
Biology has become a data-driven science. CBIRT exists to help researchers work with that data confidently, and to build lasting capability in bioinformatics and computational biology.
Our work rests on four things: training scientists through live, hands-on programs; delivering rigorous data analysis; communicating new science clearly; and pursuing original research of our own, with quality at the core of each.
Whether you are a student taking your first course, a researcher with a dataset waiting, or an institution looking to build skills in your team, we would be glad to work with you.
