Job Description
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Human Immune Monitoring Core at Columbia University Irving Medical Center offers cutting-edge single-cell services, including multi-modal single-cell genomics, multiplexed tissue imaging for translational and clinical research studies for a diverse scientific and clinical research community.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Bioinformatician with strong expertise in NGS technologies. HIMC has extensive collaborations with investigators across Columbia and other institutes across the world. The successful applicant will work closely with scientists and clinicians to help design, implement, and see-through cutting-edge research projects for discovery and translational research. Other responsibilities include training on existing equipment, developing new workflows, or adapting existing methods as needed. Collaborative studies and grant applications are possible for motivated individuals.
Responsibilities
Involves the application and development of computational/machine-learning tools for analyzing single-cell RNA sequencing data, with focus on different bioinformatics projects at HIMC.
Improve and maintain different computational pipelines for analyzing as-well-as storing data related to different NGS technologies (single-cells, single-nuclei, ATAC-seq, bulk RNA-seq, phospho-proteomics, spatial transcriptomics etc).
Working with the HIMC team for troubleshooting data (3’- and 5’-end single-cell RNA-seq with the 10x Genomics Chromium platform, T cell receptor repertoire analysis with the 10x Genomics Chromium platform, spatial dataetc).
Help in study design and analytical approaches to different bioinformatics projects at HIMC.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience plus three years of related experience.
Other Requirements
Bachelors/Master’s/PhD degree in computational biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics.
Experience in high-throughput sequencing data analysis or method development.
Programming skills: Fluency with Python, R, and UNIX (shell scripting).
Experience with Cloud computing (like AWS).
