The Department of Microbiology and Immunology, College of Medicine, at the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC), is seeking outstanding candidates for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant (with K or R type NIH grant(s), or equivalent), Associate or Full Professor levels. Applicants should be creative and collaborative scientists pursuing fundamental and/or translational research relating to host responses to infection as they pertain to immunological, microbial or viral pathogenesis.
Applicants should be utilizing state-of-the-art approaches, including but not limited to genomics, molecular genetics, cell biology, imaging, bioinformatics and/or animal models. Ideal applicants are expected to have an established research program with extramural funding and a strong publication record and should be committed to teaching graduate and medical students. UIC offers an intellectually exciting, collegial and supportive environment with robust graduate, MSTP and post-doctoral programs and extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration. Resources include outstanding core facilities for DNA/RNA sequencing and genomics, imaging, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, structural analyses and automated drug screening. Facilities supporting BSL-3 and ABSL3 pathogen research are operational within the department and college.
